Vision Shared’s collaboration with the PIECES Advisory Council and West Virginia Kids COUNT led to passage of legislation in 2009 implementing governance, quality standards and financing of early childhood development. Click here to see the legislation.
Going forward, Vision Shared will help PIECES with the necessary organizational development so West Virginia can access federal stimulus funds available for early child development programs.

The Intellectual Infrastructure Steering Committee is led by Vision Shared Board Members Gayle Manchin, first lady of West Virginia, and Dr. Stephen Kopp, president of Marshall University.

- Early Child Development: This team shares information about and supports various early child development efforts in West Virginia. The team provides particular assistance to PIECES (Partners Implementing an Early Care and Education System) and is led by PIECES Chairman Sandy Murphy, an attorney at Bowles, Rice, McDavid, Graff & Love in Charleston. - Seamless Education: This team focuses on helping students achieve an efficient and effective transition from one educational level to the next. Ture "seamless education" provides the necessary skill sets to support an individual's success at the next level, eliminates duplication and sets mastery for pre-determined standards for a chosen career pathway. This team is led by Chairman Kathy D' Antoni, vice chancellor of the West Virginia Community and Technical College System.
