LEADERSHIP

The Vision Shared Board of Directors come from different regions of West Virginia and represent almost every sector of the state’s economy, from business and labor to academia and the non-profit world. Vision Shared operations are managed by a president/chief executive officer who, in coordination with a support services provider, ensures that all aspects of Vision Shared’s administration and activities adhere to federal and state regulations and the highest standards of operation.

Affiliated Construction Trades

Steve White is Director of the Affiliated Construction Trades (ACT) representing 20,000 union construction workers in West Virginia and bordering areas.

ACT is a division of the West Virginia State Building and Construction Trades Council, AFL-CIO and provides research, public relations, advertising and lobbying functions for members. Through ACT, union construction workers are able to improve their job opportunities and communities by promoting a variety of issues such as local hiring, a drug and alcohol-free work environment, highly skilled craft occupations, infrastructure investment and sound governmental fiscal and contracting policies.

White has held this position since the division was created in 1992. Prior to joining ACT, White worked for the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America at their Washington, D.C., headquarters in both the research and apprenticeship departments. He has also worked as a carpenter and union organizer. 

White serves on a number of local and national boards including Thomas Health System, West Virginia Center on Budget and Policy, Good Jobs First and the National Alliance for Fair Contracting.

White holds degrees in both economics and labor relations.
