LEADERSHIP

The Vision Shared Board of Directors come from different regions of West Virginia and represent almost every sector of the state’s economy, from business and labor to academia and the non-profit world. Vision Shared operations are managed by a president/chief executive officer who, in coordination with a support services provider, ensures that all aspects of Vision Shared’s administration and activities adhere to federal and state regulations and the highest standards of operation.

Ralph Bean is a member and past chairman of the Steptoe & Johnson’s International Practice Group and Technology Advancement Group. He has an extensive background in and continues to focus his activities on state economic development, legislative and regulatory matters, energy law, and state and federal administrative matters.

Ralph earned his bachelor’s degree and law degree at West Virginia University. He is admitted to practice law in West Virginia, Virginia and the District of Columbia.

As corporate counsel, Ralph has handled regulatory litigation before the Public Service Commission of West Virginia and other administrative agencies. His areas of concentration are legislative and regulatory, energy, technology advancement and economic development.

Prior to joining Steptoe & Johnson in 1995, Ralph served as general counsel and later president of Hope Gas Inc. He was corporate counsel to Consolidated Natural Gas System and C&P Telephone Companies and served as elections chief at the West Virginia Secretary of State’s Office.

He is a past chairman of the Young Lawyers Section of the West Virginia State Bar. In addition to the Vision Shared Board of Directors, Ralph’s industry and civic memberships include the Blanchette Rockefeller Neurosciences Institute, Center for Entrepreneurial Studies & Development at West Virginia University, Council for Community and Economic Development, I-79 Development Council, Discover the Real West Virginia Foundation, West Virginia Chamber of Commerce, Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation, West Virginia University Foundation, Huntington National Bank West Virginia Advisory Board, West Virginia Oil & Natural Gas Association, West Virginia State Election Commission, West Virginia Business Roundtable. He also co-chaired the Economic Development Task Force for Governor Bob Wise’s Transition Team.
