LEADERSHIP

The Vision Shared Board of Directors come from different regions of West Virginia and represent almost every sector of the state’s economy, from business and labor to academia and the non-profit world. Vision Shared operations are managed by a president/chief executive officer who, in coordination with a support services provider, ensures that all aspects of Vision Shared’s administration and activities adhere to federal and state regulations and the highest standards of operation.

A second-generation union sheet metal worker, Perdue was elected as a Business Representative for his local union in 1991.  He served as Secretary-Treasurer of the West Virginia AFL-CIO from 1997 until August 16, 2004, when he became President upon the retirement of former President Jim Bowen.

Kenny has been a member of the Sheet Metal Workers International Association for more than 30 years.  He was elected to the West Virginia AFL-CIO's Executive Board following the retirement of his father from the board in 1989. He served on the executive board of the sheet metal workers from 1980 to 1989.

He also served as a member of the Harrison County Economic Development Authority and as an officer with the Harrison County Labor Council, AFL-CIO.

Kenny graduated from Washington Irving High School in 1970. He began his sheet metal apprenticeship in Parkersburg and worked throughout the state and country on various construction jobs including the Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. He was also certified as a welder at a Texas nuclear plant.

In addition to Vision Shared, Kenny serves on Board of Governors of Imagine West Virginia, Vision Shared’s independent policy research institute. He also serves on the Council for Community and Economic Development, the Governor’s Workforce Investment Council, the 21st Century Jobs Cabinet, Tax Modernization Committee, the board of directors of Mountain State Blue Cross/Blue Shield and the WVU Visiting Committee for Extension Services.

Kenny and his wife Dusty have three daughters and eight grandchildren: Tesa and her husband Tim, their children Collin and Taylor of Clarksburg; Shawna and her children Morgan and Pressley of Clarksburg; and Nicole and her husband Kerry and children Skilor, Cole, Zain and Zaven of Bridgeport.
